This Post is an update. I first wrote it in January 2012.
We, as a nation, are once again in the throws of a Presidential election. In just thirteen months we will have to decide again which direction we want our Constitutional Republic to go. The choice this election cycle is clearly one of the most, if not the most, critical We the People have had to make in our 230 years as a Constitutional Republic and 243 years as an independent nation. The question of this election is nothing more nor less than do We the People want to remain a Constitutional Republic or do we want to move further to the Left toward Totalitarianism, remain a Republic just right of center, or move further to the Right toward Anarchy.
There are those on the Left, the Socialist-DINOs [Democrats In Name Only] and the Progressives of both parties, who clearly want us to continue our march toward a totalitarian Welfare Socialist State. These power hungry politicians wish to form an oligarchy where We the People become their servants [slaves] dependent on them and the federal government for everything. There are those on the Right, Libertarians and the extreme far-right, who clearly want us to move toward Anarchy. They desire absolute freedom from government interference or restriction. Correct thinking Americans, including Christian conservatives, would prefer that we have Constitutional Restoration where the federal government is the servant and We the People are the rulers as contained in our 1787 U. S. Constitution. This is the position that our Founding Fathers gave to us along the continuum between Totalitarianism and Anarchy. A position often referred to as “just right of center.”
There are many Americans, including Christian conservatives, who seem to agree that our Constitutional Republic is infected with a malignant cancer which I identify as the Socialist (Progressive) Ideology. An ideology which infects both the Democrats and the Republicans and is the root cause of our pending destruction unless we can correct our course. Many of these Americans also seem to only want to treat the symptoms of our malignancy rather than the cause itself. It is clear to me that We the People must return to our past if we are to have a future and “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”
Additionally many of these Americans believe that “Christian conservatives” are misdirected in their efforts to save our Constitutional Republic. They seem to believe that We the People should be concerned about the “math” first. It may be that we, as a nation, need to treat our $22.5 Trillion national debt first but how does one do that without treating the cause of that debt? We may need to stop our internal bleeding immediately but if we do not treat the cause of our hemorrhage, the plethora of social-justice programs, we, as a nation, cannot afford all our efforts will ultimately be to no avail.
Many of these folks, albeit a minority of Americans, are professed agnostics or atheists. In general, these are folks who hold the view that any ultimate reality is unknown and probably unknowable. As “Christian conservatives,” we need to be tolerant of their belief that there is no god, supreme being, or ultimate power in the universe. We do NOT on the other hand have to accept their point of view. They are of course free to reject our Judeo-Christian heritage and the Judeo-Christian principles that our Founding Fathers inculcated into the founding documents of our Constitutional Republic. After all, God’s greatest gift to man is his “moral agency” – the right to choose.
“Christian conservatives,” have to be tolerant of LGBT community but they do NOT have to accept homosexuality, same-sex unions, or the destruction of the traditional family.
“Christian conservatives,” have to be tolerant of the pro-choice movement but they do NOT have to accept the genocide [murder] of some 60 Million unborn children of God in a nation that declared its independence based upon the unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and Property.
“Christian conservatives,” have to be tolerant of environmentalists but they do NOT have to accept their destruction of our economy by their placing the environment before We the People and our Constitutional Republic.
“Christian conservatives,” have to be tolerant of non-Christians but they do NOT have to accept their beliefs for the rules that govern our Constitutional Republic particularly rules, such as Sharia Law that would supplant our Constitution in violation of Article VI.
“Christian conservatives,” have to be tolerant of many divergent views but they do NOT have to accept them in our civil society which was founded upon Judeo-Christian principles. If there are those who want a different civil society than the one established by our Founding Fathers, they are free to emigrate and establish one based upon their beliefs, but they do NOT have the right to destroy our majority Christian nation, our Constitutional Republic, our civil society.
In summary, “Christian conservatives” are required by their God to be tolerant of sinners but they do NOT have to accept the sinners’ sins as the norm for our Christian nation, our Constitutional Republic!
Our history is poignantly clear. When our Pilgrim ancestors landed upon Plymouth Rock in 1620, they acknowledged Almighty God and established their Colonial government based upon Judeo-Christian principles in the Mayflower Compact. As others came to the various thirteen colonies they did the same. They did so from their separate Christian denominational views, but nevertheless they did so. Even those who came for economic reasons in the South still acknowledged God in the establishment of their Colonial governments.
When they came together to petition King George III and the Parliament for their grievances and their rights as freemen, when they wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776, they acknowledged the Creator and our unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and Property as an endowment from Him.
When they met in Philadelphia in 1787 at the Constitutional Convention, it was stated by the venerable Ben Franklin, ”I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that except the Lord build the House they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall become a reproach and bye word down to future ages. And what is worse, mankind may hereafter from this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing Governments by Human wisdom and leave it to chance, war and conquest.”
Our Second President, John Adams, one of our Founding Fathers, stated, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
From 1620 and the landing on Plymouth Rock, through the establishment of the United States of America, and on through the crucible Civil War, the building of a nation from ‘sea to shining sea,’ the industrial revolution and two World Wars our nation grew and prospered because of our Judeo-Christian principles and our acknowledgment of God Almighty’s hand in our destiny as a beacon of hope in a world of darkness.
May God Bless and Save the United States of America —
Our Constitutional Republic !
