Peace and Unity Begins with Every American

We the People need to come together in UNITY if our Constitutional Republic is to be saved from wrack and ruin. There is circulating on the Internet and Social Media that the Republican Trumpers should treat President-Elect Biden as nastily and disrespectfully as President Trump was treated these past four years. Just what would this accomplish for We the People and our Constitutional Republic?

The Patriot Pen believes that We the People are better than that. The results of this ill treatment is best described in an exchange in Fiddler on the Roof between a villager and Tevye. The villager quotes the Biblical injunction, “An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth,” to deal with the Czar’s injustice. To which Tevye responses, “Very good. That way the whole world will be blind and toothless.”

Have We the People all forgotten the teachings of our youth? Are the Golden Rule and civility to be banned from the public square forever? It would be well for all, Democrat or Republican, Socialist or Conservative, Left or Right, to remember the teaching of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you: do ye even so to them.” (KJV: Matthew 7:12) Or as it is often put, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Our Founding Fathers gave us a Constitutional Republic, through negotiation and compromise, which is best described as just right of center along the political continuum between Totalitarianism and Anarchy. The fringes, the extremists, on both sides of our political divide are and always will be equally wrong. Any effort on the part of any citizen or party to move us toward either extreme is wrong for our nation. The safety for our Constitutional Republic has never changed throughout the 244 years of our existence. It was, is now, and forever will be in the negotiation and compromise of the center to preserve our inalienable rights to Life, Liberty and Property granted by the Creator to all men and women. It is the working across party lines by the moderates of both parties for the good of We the People, all of us — red, yellow, black or white, gay or straight, — and our Constitutional Republic.

May God Bless and Save the United States of America —
Our Constitutional Republic !
