In a fiery Fourth of July Facebook post, Utah’s Black Lives Matter Chapter leader, Lex Scott, declared the American flag “a symbol of hatred.” https://www.foxnews.com/us/black-lives-matter-utah-american-flag-symbol-hatred.
To this, I say that bigotry and racism exist on both sides of the racist debate. When the majority of Americans see the BLM and Antifa Flags, they also see symbols of hatred. When the majority of Americans see the looting, the arson, the wanton destruction of black lives and black communities by Blacks themselves, they see these as evidences of those who hate America and wants its destruction.
I gave twenty-five years of my life serving with other red and yellow, black and white servicemen and servicewomen, Americans All, in defending our Constitution and the Ideal known as America. If my twenty-five years of service taught me anything, it is that there is no systemic racism in this nation. The bigots and racists on both sides, Black and White, Left and Right, keep pointing to each other to defend their argument of systemic racism while ignoring the ninety percent of Americans that judge people by their character and not the color of their skin.
Lex Scott declares that the American Flag is a symbol of hatred. I invite Ms Scott to visit Arlington National Cemetery and tell me as she gazes upon row after row of 400,000 plus identical headstones, how ALL are not inclusive of my America — Our America. Beneath these stones lie patriots – red and yellow, black and white – who are precious in God’s sight and who should be precious in ALL true Americans sight for having given that last full measure of devotion to the cause of liberty. They did this not for America alone but for many others in far flung nations who also yearned to be free. And, they all returned home under an American Flag they lived for and died for!
I lay the problem of racism in our America squarely at the feet of the Democratic Party leadership and the national teachers unions who use their power to divide and destroy America rather than to unite it. They do this so they can retain power in a Welfare Socialist State in an oligarchy of one-party rule. A Welfare Socialist State where they would be the masters and We the People would be their slaves on a government plantation.
It has always been curious to me that the freed posterity of the slaves in the Ante-Bellum South are so eager to return to the chains of slavery on a government plantation. A plantation where they have to look to the federal government for everything. It has always been curious to me how they seek to destroy the freedom granted by President Lincoln in the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, and by the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to our Constitution. It has always been curious to me how they seek to destroy the gains made by the Civil Rights Movement led by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Yes, there is more that needs done. But, it can only be done by non-hyphenated Americans who choose to find the common ground and good that unites rather than extremist Americans, Black or White, Left or Right, on both sides who choose to divide.
If America is so bad, why are millions trying to come here? Why do they risk their very lives, in some cases, to obtain freedom and liberty in our Constitutional Republic? Why don’t they try to go somewhere else? The clear answer is that our Constitutional Republic, with all its imperfections, is still the best nation on earth regardless if you are red or yellow, black or white!
May God Bless and Save the United States of America —
Our Constitutional Republic!
